Last week executives of Finnish media and marketing industry gathered for a summit to discuss the future of media, marketing and advertising. Uplause had the honor to bring its part for the summit and talked about how the current event sponsorship models are not working and giving enough bang for the buck for the sponsors. Uplause’s clear view is that industry is moving towards Sponsorship 2.0 which is about building social dialogues, interaction and activation. Uplause also believes that sponsors will be increasingly demanding these from the organizers and an experience that extends beyond the arena, stadium, hall into the web, mobile and TV.
Today starts the finnish sm-liiga play offs in ice-hockey and naturally Uplause will be there. Not just in one city, but in three cities and teams: TPS Turku, Lukko from Rauma and HPK Hämeenlinna. We don’t predict winners but we certainly believe that it’s going to be exciting spring for the fans and teams!

Good news for the fans of Uplause and Jokerit HC! Uplause crowd game will feature in all remaining games of this season. And yes, that includes of course also play offs. We will start right after olympics are done, that is 4th of March. First game will be against Tappara from Tampere, a big game for the home team. If you’re in town, head to Hartwall Areena for the game and same time to experience Uplause first time in Jokerit game.

At the eve of our premier night in Helsinki Uplause got a very pleasant call from Malmö, Sweden. Uplause had passed the round of applications (84) and was among the eight companies from Nordic countries awarded with significant funding for game development. Three companies from Finland received a grant and Uplause got 400 000 DKK, roughly 54 000 EUR.
First milestone and recognition within games industry! For our alternative game concept, massively multiplayer crowd game, the support from Nordic Game Program means a lot. It is great to see how the Nordic states share the idea of pushing the boundaries in gaming overall and how they value innovative and new ideas and concepts.
By decision of the Nordic Ministers for Culture, representing Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, the Nordic Game Program was launched on 1 January 2006. The Program is planned to run until 2012, and all funds come from the Nordic Council of Ministers.
The 2009 2nd round award ceremony was held in Malmö, Sweden on 10th of December. A very nice event with lot of talented people from Nordic games companies. We all got our diplomas and few minutes with the press.
